Stephen is an advisor to Pala Investments.

Stephen was previously a Managing Partner of Pala where he oversaw a range of investment activities, including private equity and debt investments, in addition to the firm’s trading strategies. Stephen has spent his career mobilizing project and trade finance tools to build sustainable value chains for the materials driving a changing economy. He previously led a number of Pala’s key investments including Sienna Metals (unique source of sustainable cobalt supply); Concord Resources (seed financing to create a leading global metals merchant); Altura (first construction loan to the lithium industry); Image (industrial minerals construction loan); Nevada Copper (first new U.S. copper producer in a decade) and Sierra Rutile (turnaround of world’s largest high grade titanium producer).

Prior to Pala, Stephen worked with Amec advising industrial and natural resources companies on corporate transactions and environmental/ regulatory matters, including the IPO of the Kazakh state oil company; and venture capital for Recovco, an aluminum recycling technology company. Stephen holds an MBA from IE Business School and an MSc in Marine Science and Natural Resource Economics from University of North Carolina.

Evgenij is a Managing Partner at Pala, with oversight of Pala's private equity and trading portfolios.

Evgenij joined Pala in 2006 and has over fifteen years of experience in the natural resources sector. His commodity experience extends across a broad range of bulk commodities, base and precious metals, uranium and others. Since joining Pala, Evgenij has worked on a wide range of strategic initiatives, M&A opportunities, and operational and financial planning with many of Pala’s portfolio companies.

Prior to joining Pala, Evgenij was at one of the leading metals and mining companies.

Evgenij graduated from the University of Zurich with a Master of Arts degree.

Richard is Pala’s Chief Financial Officer and responsible for all internal financial matters including financial and management reporting, treasury and liquidity management. He leads tax due diligence and corporate structuring, and has been involved in numerous transactions at Pala including Norcast, Gemcom, Cobalt 27, Dumas and Nevada Copper.

Richard also runs a high-yield fixed income book within the Liquid Investment Strategy, in addition to currency trading and hedging of the core portfolio.

Richard has over twenty years of experience in finance, with experience at Merrill Lynch, where he was responsible for the product and financial control functions for both Germany and Switzerland. Richard was also a Director at UBS in the Global Group Treasury Department, where he was responsible for daily financial control and risk reporting for the Interest Rates Desk and Group Treasury’s global balance sheet reporting.
Richard is a Fellow of the ICAEW; a Chartered Accountant.

Jessica is Head Strategist at Pala. Her focus is on investigating emerging technologies such as electric vehicles, renewables, recycling and blockchain, and forecasting the impact these trends will have on commodity markets and how investors will finance the future economy. She also leads Pala’s ESG due diligence process.

Prior to joining Pala, Jessica was Commodities Strategist and an Equity Research Analyst at BMO Capital Markets - a member of their top-ranked Metals & Mining global research team - where her in-depth analysis and integrity gained the trust of asset management and industry clients around the world.

Jessica is a frequent speaker at industry and corporate conferences, most recently at LME Week 2021’s flagship Metals Seminar and the FT's Global Commodity Summits. She has appeared on CNBC and Bloomberg TV, and has been cited in other press such as the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Reuters and Streetwise.

Aline leads the commodity hedge fund within Pala, a long-short absolute return fund which has overperformed the benchmark since inception. The fund invests in energy, metals, bulk, agricultural and environmental commodities.  With her team, she applies a “quantamental” investment strategy, based on macro/microeconomic fundamentals and executed through advanced mathematics/ big data analytics.

Aline is also Head of Risk Management for Pala Investments, overseeing both financial and operational risk for the Pala group.

Aline has eighteen years of investment experience in emerging markets and cyclical assets classes investing, including portfolio management, fundamental research, big data forecasting, ESG investing, risk analysis, syndicated finance, debt restructuring, credit analysis, private and equity capital markets.

Prior to joining Pala in 2011, Aline worked at the World Bank, where she managed a portfolio of investments in the manufacturing sector and executed numerous transactions related to IFC's climate change mandate.

Before this, Aline was part of the ABN-AMRO Equity Capital Markets team, where she executed several IPOs. Aline also worked on ABN AMRO’s asset & liability department as senior interest rates trader and liquidity modeler. She began her career at Louis Dreyfus, where she was responsible for estimating commodities’ demand, with a focus on new technologies such as ethanol, and modelling hedging risk.

Aline holds BSc in economics, a MS in Risk Management and an MBA from the IE Business School.
