Michael Barton – Vice President

Prior to joining Pala Investments AG in February 2007, Michael was at Hatch Corporate Finance, a company specializing in the metals and mining industry. Michael has over six years experience in metals and mining.

Michael has worked on a broad spectrum of transactions in the sector, including Rio Tinto’s investment in Ivanhoe Mines (2006), the disposal of EnterTad’s steel distribution business (2006), seed financing of RecovCo (2005), a start-up aluminum recycler, negotiation of a major debt facility for Cambrain Mining (2006), appraisal of and investment in metallurgical coal prospects for Tata Steel (2005), and the development of several early-stage mining projects through partnership agreements, including Crew Minerals with Jilin Jien Nickel (2005) and Western Canadian Coal with Anglo American (2006).

Michael began his career with Deloitte & Touche where he was involved with numerous clients, transactions and projects in the sector. Michael left Deloitte & Touche at the manager level, where he was responsible for all aspects of project and engagement management.
